The bank accounts of Lord Ram Lala in Ayodhya continue to swell. A whopping Rs 5457 crore have so far been deposited into the vaults of three bank accounts for the Lord while the donations collected during 44-day Nidhi Samarpan Ahbiyan are still being counted.

Releasing the latest figure of donations collected, the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai said that so far they have tabulated Rs 5457.94 crores which have been deposited in State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Banks.

“Tabulation work was still on as many cheques are yet to be cleared and the amounts deposited in banks. Moreover, people who were left in the drive are still donating through digital mediums. The audit is still on and the final figure will go higher,” said Rai.

For transparency during the donation collection drive and audit purposes, Dhanusha Software owner Swami Satyanarayan Murthy had developed a foolproof software, so that not even a single paisa remains unaccounted for.

The Trust General Secretary claimed that they have so far calculated to have received a donation of Rs 2253.97 crore through coupons and Rs 2753,97 crore by digital donations. An amount of Rs 450 crores collected through different sources was in the three bank accounts.

The Trust had launched the Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan on January 15 which ended on February 27. Devotees across the country were given the option to make donations through digital medium, cheques or coupons. The Trust had issued coupons in the denominations of Rs 10, 100 and Rs 1000 for the convenience of Ram Bhakts.

It had received Rs 225.46 crores through Rs 1000 coupon, Rs 372.48 crores from Rs 100 coupons and Rs 30.99 crores from Rs 10 coupons. An amount of rs 1625.04 crores were collected from door to door campaign cash donations by issuing receipts.

About 74 Ram Bhakts donated Rs 1 crore or more, 127 more than 50 lakhs, 123 between Rs 25 to 50 lakhs and 950 between Rs 10 lakh and 25 lakhs, 1428 between Rs 5 to 10 lakhs and 31,663 Ram Bhakts donated between Rs 1 and 5 lakhs for the construction of grand Ram Lala temple in Ayodhya.

Though the Trust had already collected nearly four times of the total temple complex cost of Rs 1500 crores, it is under tremendous pressure from Ram Bhakts living abroad to launch a Global Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan for allowing them to make donations for the construction of Ram Lala temple.

The donation box kept in the Ram temple complex is receiving huge donations in form of cash, bank cheques, drafts, gold and silver ornaments almost every day. Between the 5th and the 10th of every month, the trust and bank officials calculate the donations received by the temple trust.

NEW DELHI: The Ram temple which is being constructed in the ancient holy town of Ayodhya under the supervision of the Supreme Court-mandated Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has been receiving massive donations despite the latest row over the land purchase.

According to the temple trust, devotees of Lord Ram are donating with a free hand for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Whether it is Ramlala's bank account or the donation box kept inside the Ram temple complex or Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust's office, the devotees are offering donations openly everywhere.

The trust’s general secretary Champat Rai said that the organisation is committed to full transparency and has purchased the land at a cheaper price compared to the market rate. Rai said that the trust is working to give a grand shape to the Ram Temple premises and make it comfortable for visitors keeping in mind Vastu Shastra. He said that the trust is purchasing land on the east and west side after agreement from the land/temple owners.

“Teerth Kshetra has decided to rehabilitate each organisation/individual being displaced due to the process. Even the rehabilitation land is being selected as per the consent of the affected people,” said Rai.

Amid all this, the trust claimed that the recent allegations levelled by the opposition leaders have had no bearing on the donations received by the temple trust. After the recent unlocking of the lockdown, thousands of devotees are reaching Ayodhya every day and offering prayers to the deity in the Ram temple complex here.

The donation box kept in the temple is receiving huge donations in form of cash, bank cheques, drafts, gold and silver ornaments almost every day. Between the 5th and the 10th of every month, the trust and bank officials calculate the donations received by the trust.

On Sunday, donations of Rs 1 lakh cash and 50 thousand in check were received by the office of the Ra temple trust. Interestingly, this donation has been received during the 8 hours of the ‘darshan’ period as the Ramlala temple complex opens for the devotees in two different shifts.

In the first shift, Darshan is allowed from 7 am to 11 am, while in the second shift, devotees can come for darshan between 2 pm to 6 pm. Besides this, the trust has allowed the devotees to attend the Ramlala Aarti at 6.30 pm. For this, they need to take a pass from the trust office.

Ram temple trust office administrator Sriprakash Gupta said that even after the lockdown, there has been no decline in donations. Donors are donating freely through cheque, draft, cash, online in all possible ways, he added.

A recent report quoting Trust General Secretary Champat Rai said that a whopping Rs 5457 crore have so far been deposited into the vaults of three bank accounts for Lord Ram while the donations collected during 44-day Nidhi Samarpan Ahbiyan are still being counted.

Some priests and religious leaders complained that the ceremony did not follow proper ritual procedures, claiming, among others, that 5 August was not a ritually auspicious date and that the function did not include a havan.[68] In this respect, writer Arundhati Roy, a noted critic of Modi, pointed out that the chosen date marked one year since the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, arguing that the decision to schedule the ceremony for 5 August, which she claimed was an inauspicious date with no significance in the Hindu calendar, symbolized the conclusion of a period "in which India under Modi has formally declared itself a Hindu Nation, the dawning of a new era."[69][10] Among the international community, Pakistan made an official statement through its Pakistan Foreign Office related to the temple.[70] The Times of India also reported that post Ram Mandir ground–breaking, Pakistani Hindus fear violence in the same way as what happened in 1992.[71]
